Father Sebastian Kos
Father Sebastian Kos is the current pastor of St. Francis Church since July 1, 2017. He was ordained on May 15, 2010 for the Archdiocese of Hartford, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Hartford, CT.
Father’s first three years of priestly formation were completed at the Archdiocesan Seminary in Krakow, Poland. He studied theology at the Papal Theological Academy in Krakow.
He is a graduate of SS. Cyril & Methodius Seminary in Orchard Lake, MI.
Catholic Schools experience:
Parochial Vicar at the Church of St. Rita in Hamden (2010 - 2013), with a parochial school of over 400 children. He was also the Parochial Vicar at the Church of the Holy Cross, New Britain (2013-2015), 185 children.
Father served as Administrator of St. Mary & St. Hedwig Church in Naugatuck from August 2015 - June 2017.
Dr. John R. Alfone, Ed.D.
22 years of service in Catholic education having served as principal of three Catholic elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Hartford as well as of Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Education in the Diocese of Bridgeport.
BS in Pharmacy (Brooklyn College of Pharmacy), Master of Science in Intermediate-Upper Elementary Education (SCSU) and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership (University of Hartford)
Mrs. Linda Vecca
Prior to joining the parochial school system, Mrs. Vecca was a secretary to vice president in banking for 10 years. She also held the title Business Manager of a property management company for 14 years. Within the school system, Mrs. Vecca has served as a substitute in the Waterbury School District for 5 years and has held a secretarial position in this school building since 2004.

Mrs. Wanda Mascola
Music Teacher (K-3) & Librarian
Mrs. Mascola has been serving in many different capacities at St. Francis / St. Francis-St. Hedwig School for 20 years - including librarian, teaching art, gym, computers, Pre-K3 and music. She is the Choir Director and Co-Directs the Drama Club. Mrs. Mascola is the parent of a St. Francis of Assisi School alumni. As a parent volunteer, she was the HSA President, former School Board Member and Advancement Director. She volunteers her time to the school, community and church.

Over 29 years experience teaching preschool; proud mother of 3 children.

Mrs. Melinda Buza
A parent volunteer for many years, Mrs. Buza began serving as the St. Francis of Assisi School librarian in 2003. In 2005, she took on the role as a Pre-K aide. Mrs. Buza is the mother of two St. Francis of Assisi School alumni. Outside of the school system, she has extensive experience as a business technical writer.

Mrs. Jennifer Capozziello
Miss Deborah Pisciotti
25 years teaching experience, exclusively in this school building. Miss Pisciotti has been teaching Kindergarten for the last 21 years and was recognized as the 2005 Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year. She currently serves on the Archdiocese of Hartford – Office of Catholic Schools Curriculum Commission.
B.A. in History with an English Minor (Trinity College of Vermont) and M.S. in Elementary Education (University of Bridgeport)
Mrs. Joan Neth
Mrs. Neth has been in this building for over 16 years serving in many different capacities – Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade aide, gym teacher and also librarian. As a parent volunteer, she has also coached softball and served on many school committees. Many members of her family, namely her parents and children, are all graduates of St. Francis of Assisi School
Mrs. Abigail Cervone
1st Grade Teacher
9 years teaching experience, of which the last 6 years at St. Hedwig School. Mrs. Cervone has taught both Kindergarten and Grade 1.

Mrs. Megan Lefevre
2nd Grade Teacher
Mrs. Lefevre has seven years of experience teaching first grade, most recently for the Wolcott School District and previously for St. Mary Magdelen School in Oakville. Prior to this experience, she was a reading interventionist for the Naugatuck School District.
Mrs. Annette Whidden
3rd Grade Teacher
Mrs. Whidden came to St. Francis - St. Hedwig School from the Diocese of Bridgeport in 2017 where she had taught for several years. Her experience spans several grade levels as well as working with special needs students.
Mrs. Leslie Biggins
4th Grade Teacher
Mrs. Biggins has taught Grade 4 at St. Francis-St. Hedwig for 6 years; 7 years experience at St. Hedwig School teaching Grade 4; Administrative Assistant/Teacher at St. Lucy School for 3 years; 10 years in the Torrington Public School System; three years at Children’s Community School in Waterbury.

Miss Jane Jacques
5th Grade Teacher
Miss Jacques has 20 years of experience in teaching grades 5-8. She started her elementary teaching career in 1997 at St. Lucy School in Waterbury CT as the grade 5 teacher. Over her years there she was asked to also teach Math and Science to grades 6-8 as well as a class in computer technology. When St. Lucy School closed in 2005, Miss Jacques was hired as the Grade 5/6 teacher at St. Hedwig School and was privileged to be asked to join the combined St. Francis- St. Hedwig School in 2011.

Miss Palma Salcito
6th Grade Teacher
With 5 years teaching experience, Miss Salcito began her career teaching US History and AP Psychology for the Derby Public Schools. She then joined St. Francis-Saint Hedwig School last year as the grade 6 homeroom teacher and middle school Language Arts, Social Studies and Religion teacher.

Mrs. Louise Stack
7th Grade Teacher
With over 29 years experience St. Francis-St. Hedwig School and 6 years at St. Francis-St. Hedwig School, Mrs. Stack teaches mathematics in grades six through eight, including Algebra 1 to students in grade eight who are prepared for that course of study.

Miss Valerie Petrillo
8th Grade Teacher
32 years teaching, Ms. Petrillo has taught grade 7, Science and Language Arts, at Portland Middle and grade 7 Science and Language Arts at King Philip Middle School ,West Hartford, She came to St. Francis for grade 6 Science in 2006 then moved to grade 8 (6-7-8 Science) for the past 5 years.

Mrs. Terry Wade
Art Teacher & Pre-K Aide
For several years Mrs. Wade has been an active substitute and took on the role of Pre-K aide in 2009. In addition to her Pre-K duties, she serves as the Art teacher for students in Pre-K through Grade 8. She has been a very active volunteer and a HOPES Award recipient.
Mr. Michael Petruzzi
Spanish & Music Teacher (4-8)
Mr. Petruzzi joined the faculty in 2012, and enjoys immensely the challenge of teaching Spanish to all grade levels from kindergarten through eighth grade. Before coming to St. Francis-St. Hedwig, Mr. Petruzzi served as a substitute teacher in the Waterbury and Wolcott public school systems. An avid musician, he serves as a substitute organist for local churches, as well as co-directing and accompanying for the SFSH Children’s Choir and annual Drama Club production.

Mr. Leo Lavallee
Instrumental Music Teacher & Future Musician's Band Instructor
Mr. Lavallee joined St. Francis – St. Hedwig school as Instrumental Music Teacher and Future Musician's Band Instructor in 2017. He is a former principal and teacher and has many years teaching instrumental music lessons and directing bands for various youth organizations. Mr. Lavallee also has many years of performance credits. He also directs the Holy Cross Band.
