Congratulations to Mrs. Kathleen Yocher. She is the winner of the Home and School tuition raffle that was held at the meeting last night.

))))) On Friday, September 23, St. Francis-St. Hedwig School kicked off our 2016-2017 Reading Challenge.
The top students in each class were recognized for their reading achievements and they are:

Grade K- Pedro Pires
Grade 1 – Alexis Purcaro
Grade 2 – Madelyn Scully
Grade 3- Isabella- Sequieria Beard
Grade 4- Connor McColl
Grade 5- Isabella Venditto
Grade 6 –Ella Glorioso
Grade 7- Ashley Galvao
Grade 8 – Joseph Reilly

Naugatuck’s Mayor, Mr. Peter Hess, led the opening ceremonial parade around the gym with parents, students and members of our community and the Torch for Reading was lit. The 2016-2017 Reading Challenge Program is SFSH Olympic Reading
• Each student in every class will be sent home a reading log by month.
• Books that your child read should be listed on the logs.
• In younger grades books that you have read with your child should be listed on the log.
• Older students in Grades 6, 7 and 8 will have a page goal.
• Please complete these logs and send them in at the end of each the month.
The school wide goal is 5,000 books. If we meet that goal, Dr. Salatto will sit in a dunk tank at the end of the year and the top reader from each class will have the opportunity to dunk him.
Please encourage your child to read each day… Dr. Salatto can’t wait to be dunked!!
Ready …. Set …. Read !!!

))))) Our Fall Wine Tasting Event is quickly approaching – November 12, 6:00 PM in the church hall.. Tickets are available from Nate Hein, Jennifer Baehr, or through the school office ($50/couple; $30/single). This has been a great event the past two years and a great deal of fun…you won’t want to miss it!

))))) HSA FUNDRAISER: Kid Stuff Coupon Books are gong home today. Please send the money collected to school in the “KidStuff Coupon Book” envelope enclosed in the book by October 27. If you are unable to sell the book, please return it in good condition.

))))) NO Intramural SOCCER tomorrow. Starting October 14, soccer will be held in the gym

The Life of Saint Francis of Assisi will be presented this weekend by the school.
4:00 PM – Vigil Mass
5:00 PM – Coffee and … in the Parish Hall
6:00 PM – Life of Saint Francis Presentation in the Parish Hall
Please join us for this program in celebration of the
125th Anniversary of St. Francis of Assisi Parish.

<><><> October Rosary this Friday, and each Friday during the month of October, in the church, 8:30 AM. Please join us in this dedication to Mary, Our Heavenly Mother.

<><><> Wednesday, October 19 – Fall Festival for students in PK 3 through Grade 8 during school time. Students should wear their gym uniforms.

<><><> Thursday, October 20 – EARLY DISMISSAL – Parent Teacher Conferences.
Be sure to have handed in your preferred conference time sheets. Please Note: Due to strict scheduling, you must adhere to your specified time. If you need more than the allotted time, please schedule an appointment to meet with your child’s teacher at a mutually convenient time. If you are late, you will have a shorter time to meet with the teachers. If you miss your allotted time, you will need to reschedule. All 6, 7, 8 grade students must attend the conference with their parents.

<><><> Discount cards will be sold in the school office the day of parent conferences for Buffalo Wild Wings Restaurant. Please support this very limited fundraiser for the SFSHS Fathers’ Club. They support our school students with the proceeds from the sale.

<><><> On Friday, October 21, the Naugatuck Fire Department will be presenting a program on fire safety to Grades K-3. Please ask your child what they learned in case of a fire in your home. Thanks!

<><><> Plan Ahead: Sunday, October 23 – Trunk or Treat on the field, 2:00 PM for students in PK through Grade 5.

<><><> Make Your Own Sundae order forms are going home with students today. Please support this eighth grade fundraiser. Our students really liked it last year!

<><><> Fathers Club Meeting – Wednesday, October 19, 7:00 PM in the school. All dads, guardians, grandfathers welcome to attend!
